Clinical observership in orthopedic and spine surgery in Lubbock, TX

The American Ukrainian Medical Foundation (AUMF) is proud to announce the successful completion of a clinical observership in orthopedic and spine surgery by Dr. Valentyn Vasylov, a highly accomplished orthopedic surgeon from Chernivtsi, Ukraine

Dr. Vasylov spent four weeks at Grace Surgical Hospital in Lubbock, Texas, under the supervision of Dr. Sergiy Nesterenko, observing advanced spine surgery techniques and modern patient care protocols. During the rotation, he was introduced to cutting-edge implants and instrumentation from Globus Medical in procedures such as TLIF, ALIF, LLIF, cervical laminoplasty, cervical disc replacement, and minimally invasive surgery using tubular retractors. He also participated in outpatient clinic activities, learning an algorithmic, diagnosis-driven approach to spine-related conditions in the U.S.

We express our sincere gratitude to Globus Medical for supporting this project and for being a reliable partner in delivering high-quality, state-of-the-art care to people across borders. We also thank Grace Covenant Surgical Hospital and Covenant Medical System for their warm hospitality and support during this rotation.

Clinical rotations for Ukrainian physicians are one of the key directions of AUMF’s mission to:

  • Strengthen Ukraine’s healthcare system.
  • Bring Ukrainian medicine to the highest international standards.
  • Develop a platform for cooperation and mutual enrichment between Ukraine and the United States.

We believe that providing Ukrainian surgeons with direct exposure to advanced medical practices will accelerate the development of world-class medicine in Ukraine and benefit thousands of patients in the years to come.

Join us in congratulating Dr. Valentyn Vasylov on this important achievement and celebrating another step toward a healthier, stronger Ukraine.
